  1. Anne says:

This model has no stitch width control selector
The tutorial I watched and manual with 3223 model speaks to model 3229 as well …it is confusing since model3223 doesn’t have that control

  2. Anne says:

This model has no stitch width control selector
    Why not?

    1. Sara says:

To keep down the cost of the machine. If this is an important feature for you, purchase a machine that costs a little bit more.

  6. Tracee says:

Can I use a metal bobbin of the same size in this machine?

    1. Sara says:

      Hi Tracee,

If your machine came with plastic bobbins, do not use metal bobbins. The metal bobbin is heavier than the plastic bobbin and will offset what your machine is set for tension wise.

    Does it have a light?

    1. Sara says:

Yes, the Singer Simple 3223 has a light.

The Singer Simple sewing machine is designed for basic sewing. Yes, it can handle the occasional thicker fabrics but if you are doing is all the time, I would recommend at least one of Singer’s Heavy Duty sewing machines.

Hi Sara! Would like to ask if Singer 3223 can sew thick fabrics like denim or leather? Your reply will be very much appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

      Hi Kate,

The Singer 3223 is built for light to medium weight sewing projects. For heavy fabrics, always test the sewing machine out before you buy it to know if it will handle the fabrics you will be sewing on.

      Hi Jan,

Here is a video of some reasons your thread may be breaking when sewing on denim.

Try a denim needle and a higher quality brand of thread.

Any spool will work. If you have a larger sized cone of thread, just purchase a separate thread stand like this one:
