1. Walking foot INCLUDED
This is one accessory that quilters are always purchasing separately. You should have seen how surprised I was to find this gem of a foot included in the accessory feet of the SINGER Heavy Duty 4452 sewing machine. Walking feet are used when sewing through quilts layered with batting, stretch fabrics, and matching stripes and plaids.
2. Decorative Stitches
There are 32 practical and decorative stitches built-in to the SINGER Heavy Duty 4452 sewing machine. Decorative stitches are my passion as you can see from our Stitching Cosmos online course. Thread the machine with variegated thread or metallic thread and watch these stitches come to life. Partner them with some of SINGER’s specialty presser feet for even more options.

4. Twin Needle Capable
The SINGER Heavy Duty 4452 sewing machine can use up to a 4.0mm twin needle (double needle). Use it to simulate a coverstitch for T-shirt hems, pin tucks, or decorative stitches.
5. Stretch Stitches
Special stretch stitches are needed to expand like an accordion when sewing on stretchy fabric. Select from either a small zig-zag or a triple straight stitch to get the results of a stretch stitch.
6. Overlock Stitches
If you haven’t invested in a separate overlock machine yet, find comfort in working through all overlock techniques with the built-in overlock stitches on the SINGER Heavy Duty 4452 sewing machine. Overlock or serger stitches are used along the edge of fabrics to prevent unraveling.
7. Triple Straight Stitch
The triple straight stitch is one of my favorite stitches. It can be used as a reinforced seam when strength matters or a stitch that looks decorative. The most common use is to simulate the look of thick topstitching thread on the hem of jeans. Skip running to the store to buy the matching spool of thread, just pick the built-in stitch and use any color of thread you want!
8. Automatic Buttonhole
When sewing machines like the SINGER Heavy Duty 4452 has an automatic buttonhole – life is good! Place the button in the foot and the machine will make a buttonhole the exact size needed for that button.
9. Blind Hem
Though a blind hem is not high on people’s must-have list, know that this SINGER sewing machine has this built-in stitch ready and waiting for you should you need it.
10. Mending Stitch
One of the most useful stitches on a sewing machine is the mending stitch. Whether fixing an unexpected hole or mending an entire-blown-out kneehole in jeans, the Singer Heavy Duty 4452 sewing machine has the perfect mending stitch.
In Conclusion…
The SINGER Heavy Duty 4452 sewing machine not only sews fast, but it is powerful. It is totally handle anything you throw at it. If you are looking for an affordable sewing machine that will do a lot, this model has passed all our sewing tests!
