Which Models Does the Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder Fit On?
The Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder will fit EPIC, Brilliance, Diamond, Ruby, Topaz, Sapphire, and Opal series machines.
Throat Plate
The Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder attaches to the machine’s throat plate in the far right with two vertical holes shown in the photo below. The newer Husqvarna Viking sewing machine models, like the Husqvarna Viking EPIC and the Brilliance 80 and 75 models are already equipped with this new throat plate. If you do not have the required throat plate, contact your local Husqvarna Viking retailer to purchase both the throat plate and the Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder.
What Comes with the Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder?
The Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder includes the Quilt Binder, foot to use with the Interchangeable Dual Feed Foot, binder plate, and screws.
Binding a Curve
The walking foot is NOT designed to go around curves. For binding a curve with the Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder, purchase separately the Mega Piping Foot. It allows for the binding to bend with the curve of the fabric. Adjust the needle position to make sure both the top and bottom layers of the bias binding is caught.
Optional Foot – Mega Piping Foot
The Mega Piping Foot is perfect for inserting thick home dec piping into seams and on edges for a tailored finish. The trim is sewn between the two layers of fabric in one step. You can also create your own piping for a custom finish. This foot can be snapped onto the right or the left of the needle which makes it possible to both create and sew the piping into the seam and to beautifully topstitch along the piping.
And now it is the perfect accessory to the Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder!
The Glue Stick is Your Friend
Having a glue stick handy can help assist in creating the perfect corner while using the Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder. It can is also used to create the perfect ending.
At the end, cut the bias strip and fold the end and glue it. The glue will hold the fold in place as the final inches of bias fabric glides into the Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder.
Stiletto or Seam Ripper
You will need something long and sharp to assist with inserting the bias strip into the Husqvarna Viking Quilt Binder as well as assisting with guiding all the layers smoothly around the entire quilt. Read here what my favorite tool is for the job here:
Thicker Battings
If the quilt sandwich is thicker than normal because of batting choice or just lots of seams, use a serger set for a traditional 4-thread overlock stitch to help compact those thick edges.
Running Low on Binding Fabric?
We have all done it…we get to the end of the quilt and realized we have used some of the fabric that was supposed to be saved for the binding. Using a Quilt Binder takes LESS fabric. Strips are cut 1 3/4” instead of 2 1/2”.
Where to Buy?
